When the first portable exhibit came onto the market it was the only alternative to custom built plywood booths that were all designed and manufactured from scratch. It helped to expand the trade show business in that it allowed a lot of start-up companies to be able to afford an exhibit and to attend trade shows. It helped promote the growth of the industry because there were more businesses vying for exhibit space.
