drill safety at work

A power drill is not a technical device. But with all power tools, safety needs to be done.

1. As a general rule, you should make sure your project is secured down properly. Having a piece of metal or wood shoot out and the drill bit puncturing in to your leg would not be a good experience.
2. Don’t wear long sleeves or loose clothing when drilling. If you are using a 24v cordless drill, a single piece of clothing caught in the drill bit would wind up clothing extremely fast.
3. Don’t push the electric drill to drill. Instead, let the machine do its job. This goes for sanding as well.
4. You should always begin very slow and work up to a higher speed. Starting off quickly is only going to have the drill bit dance around and end up elsewhere.
